is a heartfelt children’s story inspired by my husband's true-life journey.
From being teased at school for wearing hearing aids, to being told his dream of becoming a firefighter was impossible, Charlie learns that setbacks do not have to be the end of the story.
Written to inspire children with disabilities across the world, this book celebrates perseverance, resilience, and the power of believing in your dreams—even when others do not.
Sometimes, the very thing that makes you different is what makes you strong.

From Fire Brat kid to her own Fire Career and being a Firefighter Wife, Kristen has been surrounded by the Fire Service her entire life. Kristen "Kristie" Thompson is a Christian speaker, former Deputy Fire Marshal and Fire Inspector, budding author, and Bible study leader.
Kristen grew up in the Fire Service culture with her dad and brother as fire captains. Her wonderful and supportive husband is also a firefighter.
She has forged her own 22 year career by navigating:

5 different fire agencies

3 levels of government (city, county, State)

2 States (California & Tennessee)
Through this, she has:

Developed and strengthened her perseverance through hard times

Handled unbelievable adversity and targeted harassment

Succeeded in a competitive industry with less than 10% women
But it was her love for Jesus and trusting in His Word that gave her the tools to overcome it all. She shares those lessons to inspire others that they too can be resilient and victorious through Jesus!
In addition, as someone who used to pride herself on how independent she was, God showed her we need others in a big way. During a horrific experience where her husband almost died in the hospital from COVID, it was Jesus and having a community that got her through. She believes women are made for community, not only through personal experience, but most importantly because Scripture proclaims it. Now she uses her story to teach others that they don’t have to go through life alone. Life is so much easier when we walk it together!
