Kristen “Kristie” Thompson is a Christian speaker, author, Bible study leader, and fire service veteran with a passion for igniting faith, strengthening women, and pointing them to the unshakable promises of God.
More than 25 years ago, God first lit the spark in Kristen’s heart to become a Christian speaker. She followed that calling by earning her degree in speaking—but God was only beginning to write the story.
After working in Disneyland Guest Relations and later as a wedding and event planner, Kristen eventually found herself answering another call: joining the “family business”—the fire service.
Fire Service Is in Her Blood
Kristen grew up immersed in fire service culture. Her father and brother both served as fire captains, and her wonderful, supportive husband of more than 15 years is also a firefighter. But Kristen didn't simply follow in their footsteps. She forged her own path.
Over a 22-year career as a Deputy Fire Marshal and Fire Inspector, Kristen served five different fire agencies, three levels of government—city, county, and states — in California and Tennessee. And along the way, she learned a thing or two about walking through the fire.
In a demanding, competitive profession where fewer than 10 percent of the workforce is female, Kristen faced extraordinary adversity, difficult seasons, and targeted harassment. There were times when the heat was turned up and her perseverance was tested.
But those experiences taught her something she now carries onto every stage: When the heat rises, you need to know where you stand.
For Kristen, that foundation has always been Jesus Christ and the promises found in God's Word. Through seasons of testing, God taught her to:

When Life Sounds the Alarm
Kristen's professional experience taught her that fires are easier to face when you're prepared for them. Her life taught her the same thing about faith. It wasn't Kristen's strength, independence, accomplishments, or career that carried her through her hardest seasons. It was her love for Jesus, trust in God's Word, and confidence in His promises. Those became her spiritual fire protection when life got hot.
And today, Kristen takes the lessons God taught her through more than two decades in the fire service—and through her own personal fires—and uses them to encourage women to stand firm, fight life's fires God's way, and live boldly for Jesus.
